The Guiding Principles of the Award
Individual
Every participant creates a personal Award journey. Programmes are designed around individual goals, interests, and circumstances, allowing each young person to progress at their own pace within the Award framework.

Non-competitive
The Award is a personal challenge, not a contest. Success is measured against individual progress, with each participant encouraged to develop their unique strengths and interests
Achievable
The Award is open to all. With the right support and encouragement, participants of any background, ability, or experience can complete the challenge and achieve success.

Voluntary
Taking part in the Award is a free choice. Participants commit their own time and effort, taking ownership of their experience and the goals they set.
Developmental
The Award supports growth and transformation. Participants gain life skills, build resilience, and develop as confident, responsible young adults through their involvement.

Balanced
The Award framework ensures variety and balance. By engaging in multiple activity areas, participants grow in mind, body, and community spirit.
Progressive
Each level of the Award increases in challenge. As participants progress from Bronze to Silver and Gold, they take on greater responsibility and commitment.

Inspirational
The Award motivates participants to go beyond their comfort zones. By setting ambitious goals and striving for improvement, they gain the confidence to achieve more than they thought possible.
Persistance
The Award is about commitment and determination. Progress comes through steady effort and perseverance, not quick wins or short bursts of enthusiasm.

Enjoyable
Above all, the Award should be fun. Both participants and Leaders are encouraged to find joy in the journey, making it a rewarding and memorable experience.
